The resort operates from November through April with typical daily hours supporting an eight-hour visit. It is known for moderate difficulty terrain, featuring gentle groomers and a prominent terrain park that hosts the X Games. The mountain consists of three distinct areas: Tiehack, main Buttermilk, and West Buttermilk. Tiehack is popular for uphilling, while West Buttermilk offers mellow slopes suitable for beginners. Amenities include parking at the base, restrooms, and on-mountain dining options such as the Cliffhouse and Buttermilk Mountain Lodge. The resort offers ski lessons, rentals, and ticket services from a central building. Uphilling is permitted during operational hours with a required pass. The area has 470 acres of skiable terrain and 44 trails, with snowmaking covering 108 acres.
