About
The Chasm View Nature Trail is a short, easy-to-moderate loop located at the North Rim of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park near Crawford, Colorado. The trail begins at the end of the one-way campground loop and quickly exits a pinyon-juniper forest to reveal dramatic canyon views. The route reaches two main overlooks, offering clear views of the Painted Wall and Serpent Point. The trail is approximately 0.3 miles roundtrip and is designed for a quick educational tour, featuring numbered stops and an interpretive guide available at the trailhead. The surface is unpaved and rocky in places, making it unsuitable for wheelchairs. Pets are permitted on leash. The trail is open from spring through fall, though the North Rim closes during winter. Parking is available at the trailhead, and camping is permitted in the adjacent campground.
