About
Chevalier de Balibari is a 60-foot limestone sport climb located on Kubrick's Wall in Rifle Mountain Park, near Rifle, Colorado. The route is graded 5.10d (6b) and features eight bolts leading to ring anchors. Access requires hiking along the wall upstream past Lady Lyndon to the top of an inclined trail, where the route is the first on the left. Parking is available on-site, and pets are permitted. The rock is described as dirty and dusty, particularly at the bottom where climbers may need to paw at holds, though the upper section is cleaner with larger, flat edges. The crux occurs near the third bolt, characterized by tricky moves and smaller holds. A double draw or long sling is recommended for the third clip to manage rope drag. The area is known for high-quality limestone sport climbing, with Rifle Mountain Park hosting one of the largest concentrations of 5.13-5.14 routes in the United States. The climbing season is generally May through September, with weekends being crowded.
