Dan Noble State Wildlife Area, located south of Norwood on Colorado's Western Slope, provides a moderate hiking experience from September through November. The area sits at an elevation between 7,573 and 7,891 feet. Visitors typically spend about two hours on trails that traverse varied terrain, including the Twin Spring Trail, Fish Creek Trail, Stoner Mesa Trail, and Telephone Draw Trail. The landscape features the Miramonte Reservoir and Greager Flats, offering opportunities for nature viewing alongside hiking. Parking is available at the site, and restrooms are present to support visitors. The area is pet friendly, with dogs required to be on a leash except when actively hunting or in training. A valid state hunting, fishing, or public land license, or a specific State Wildlife Area pass, is required for entry for most visitors aged 16 and older. The fall season highlights changing foliage, making it a suitable time for exploration.
