Miramonte Reservoir is a 405-acre fishery located south of Norwood in San Miguel County, situated within the Dan Noble State Wildlife Area at the base of Lone Cone Peak. The reservoir sits at an elevation of 7,188 feet and offers year-round angling access. It is known for producing quality rainbow trout, Snake River cutthroat trout, and brown trout. The population includes healthy numbers of fish reaching 20 inches in length, with several individuals weighing over six pounds. Recent reports highlight successful catches of large brown trout in the 18 to 24-inch range. Anglers typically use flies, lures, and bait, with specific success noted using balanced leeches, hoppers, and large Callibaetis patterns. Wind conditions often increase in the afternoons, making mid-morning fishing advisable. The site provides parking and 32 RV-compatible campsites with vault toilets and a dump station.
