The Desert RATS Classic 100k MTB is a 60-mile mountain biking route located in Loma and Fruita, Colorado, on the Western Slope. The course traverses high desert terrain, utilizing portions of the Kokopelli Trail, Zion Curtain Trail, and Western Rim Trail. The route is classified as difficult, featuring a mix of smooth singletrack, technical ledge descents, steep loose climbs, and deep sand sections. Elevation gain totals approximately 1,650 feet, with a base elevation of 4,512 feet. The ride takes place in a remote area with few services, requiring riders to carry their own water and supplies. Parking is available at the start, and pets are permitted. The trail is open from April through October. Conditions vary from hot and dusty in summer to cold in spring and fall. The route includes road segments and extensive trail networks, with significant rock coverage throughout. The terrain offers expansive views of the Colorado River valley and surrounding mesas.
