Doctor Park Trail is a popular one-way mountain biking route in Gunnison County, starting near the North Bank Campground and ending at the Spring Creek Road turnoff. The ride is widely considered a favorite for its long, technical descent. Access begins with a climb up Spring Creek Road, which can be done by bike or car. From the trailhead at Doctor Gulch (Trail 554), riders cross Spring Creek. The crossing is rideable when water levels are low but is at least 20 feet wide with deep water; walking the bike across flat rocks is often easier. The initial climb on the 4WD road is gradual, but the road steepens significantly after the first mile. The trail enters thick, damp forest with muddy roots before reaching a grassy meadow. From the meadow, the trail drops downhill on narrow singletrack. The descent starts technical with rocks and small steps, then becomes smooth and flowy before turning technical again near the bottom. Parking is available along the road near the trail turnoff. The trail is typically open from June through October, with closures in winter and early spring for Big Horn Sheep habitat. Pets are allowed.
