About
Elk Ridge Campground is a moderate-difficulty camping area within Ridgway State Park, located near the town of Ridgway on Colorado’s Western Slope. Situated at an elevation of 7,171 feet next to the Ridgway Reservoir, the site offers seasonal access typically from May through September. The campground contains approximately 108 campsites designed for tents, trailers, and RVs. Amenities include 30-amp electrical hookups, potable water spigots adjacent to select sites marked on park maps, flush toilets, hot-water showers, laundry facilities, and an RV dump station. Ten walk-in tent sites are available along the reservoir edge, requiring campers to haul gear approximately 50 yards from parking areas using provided wheelbarrows. The site is pet-friendly, allowing leashed dogs and service animals. Cell service in the area is described as fair to reliable, with Verizon coverage supported by a tower within the campground. The typical duration for setting up and settling in is about 2 hours. Traffic noise from Highway 550 reaches some sites closer to the road, and tree coverage varies by loop, with the E loop providing more shade. Reservations are required for most sites and cost between $28 and $36 per night.
