About

The Ewok Loop is a challenging 8.5-mile mountain biking route in Dry Creek Canyon, near Montrose, Colorado. The trail connects to the broader Montrose Uncompahgre Trails system and offers a mix of doubletrack climbing and technical singletrack. Riders begin by pedaling up the Tabeguache Trail, a Jeep road, to reach the Ewok Village singletrack. This section features black diamond-rated terrain with flowy tech, loose surfaces, and short punchy climbs. Several hike-a-bike sections are present but manageable for riders with moderate to high skill levels. The route includes a detour via the Ralph Files Bridge and exits through the Ewok Village North Cutoff to Lower Piney Creek, linking with Red Wall Trail for the return. The trail is accessible from April through October. Parking is available at two points: a 4WD-only lot in Dry Creek Canyon requiring high clearance, or at the top of Tabeguache off Rim Road. The area is remote with limited cell signal, so riders should carry ample water. Pets are allowed on the trail.
