The site functions as a day-use area within Grand Mesa National Forest, featuring a reworked reservoir and toilet facilities. Hiking typically lasts about two hours and is best suited for September through November. Access requires driving from Grand Junction west on Grand Avenue, turning onto Monument Road, and proceeding through the east entrance of Colorado National Monument on Rim Rock Road. Continue left 0.6 miles after Cold Shivers Point overlook onto the DS road toward the Glade Park sign. Turn left and travel 7 miles on S 16.5 Road to MS Road. Proceed 2 miles on Forest Route 400, then turn left at the Fruita Picnic Sign/Fruita Reservoir 1 marker. Drive 2 more miles to reach the day use area. Parking is available, and pets are allowed. While the area offers fishing opportunities, the primary utility for hikers is the accessible trail network and basic amenities.
