Bangs Canyon Off-Road Playground in Mesa, Colorado, is a BLM-managed area featuring a network of hiking trails with moderate difficulty. Located just south of Grand Junction, the site sits at an elevation of 6,142 feet and typically requires about two hours to explore. The terrain consists of arid high desert canyons, rugged hills, and red slickrock cliffs. Hikers access the area via Little Park Road, with established trailheads providing parking on site. The trails are open year-round, offering conditions suitable for exploration from January through December. While the area is known for motorized off-highway vehicle (OHV) use, including single-track motorcycle and ATV trails, it supports non-motorated hiking. The Mica Mine Trail is a notable route leading to a historic mica and quartz mine. Facilities include available parking, though drinking water is not provided at the trailhead. Pets are permitted on the trails.
