The Grouse trail is a short, 0.4-mile loop located in the Cerro Summit Recreation Area near Montrose, Colorado. Situated on P77 Road, the trail begins off the Porcupine trail near the upper trailhead and follows a route through thick growths of oakbrush, open grassy meadows, and wildflowers. The terrain is classified as easy singletrack with minimal elevation change, making it suitable for riders of all skill levels. The trail rejoins the Porcupine trail approximately 50 feet from its starting point. Access is available year-round, though the trail is typically ridden from April through October. There is no fee, and parking is available near the trailhead. Pets are allowed. The area offers views of the Montrose Reservoir across the highway from certain points on the loop. Elevation ranges from approximately 8,100 to 8,150 feet.
