Halos

About

Halos is a rock climbing destination on Grand Mesa in Western Colorado, situated at an elevation of 10,509 feet. The area features difficult routes that typically require around four hours to complete. Parking is available on site, and pets are permitted. The climbing area remains accessible year-round from January through December. Grand Mesa is a prominent landform capped by hard volcanic basalt, which protects the underlying sedimentary rocks. The rock quality is considered good, with occasional large volcanic flow events creating steep walls up to 70 feet thick. Climbers can access the area via I-70 Exit 49, heading south on CO Highway 65 from Grand Junction, or via US Highway 50 past Whitewater to Kannah Creek Road. The site is managed by the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests.
