About

Sign of Abundance is a rock climbing area on Grand Mesa, located approximately 13 miles east of Grand Junction off Highway 50. The site sits at an elevation of roughly 10,289 feet within the Palisade Lobe of the mesa. The climbing features are characterized by steep, high-quality volcanic basalt walls formed from thick lava flows. These specific flow layers provide the featured rock necessary for climbing, as the general basalt field is often fractured. The area offers moderate difficulty routes, including a notable 5.8 trad climb named Sign of Abundance. Parking is available at the site, and pets are permitted. The climbing area is accessible year-round, with conditions generally suitable from January through December.
