Hornet Trail

The Hornet Trail is a 3.2-mile moderate singletrack route located near Montrose, Colorado, on the Western Slope. It runs through aspen forests with rolling terrain and little elevation gain. The trail connects Forest Service Road 402 (Divide Road) to an intersection with the Parallel Trail #139. Riders can access the trail from Divide Road, where limited parking is available near large power lines. The route is suitable for use in both directions, though it is often ridden west to east. It serves as a connector between the State Draw Trail and the Tabeguache Trail Pool Creek Section, allowing for loop options. The trail is closed to motorized use from Labor Day through July 1, but non-motorized mountain biking has no restrictions. Pets are allowed on the trail. E-bike usage is permitted, though specific rules may vary by season or local management. The typical riding duration is approximately one hour. The trail is accessible from April through October, depending on snowpack and weather conditions.
