Kenose Eskapa

Kenose Eskapa is a 5.13b sport climbing route located in Rifle Mountain Park, near Rifle, Colorado. The climb is 80 feet (24 meters) long and features a blue and gold streaked limestone wall. It sits just to the left of the route Red Dawn, next to a large block with easy stone on its right side. The first ascent was made by Darek Krol and Colton McEntee. The route uses 12 bolts leading to a two-bolt anchor. Climbers start by moving up the easy stone on the right side of the huge block adjacent to the wall. They then traverse out to the right onto the main wall at the third bolt. The middle section involves powerful deadpoints on small holds, ending with a shake at mid-height. A difficult sequence follows on small holds, leading to a tricky traverse left into a shallow, right-facing corner. Climbers then make balancy moves up the corner to reach jugs at the top. Rifle Mountain Park is known for steep, blocky limestone sport climbing. The area allows new routes to be bolted under a permit system. Parking is available at the site, and pets are permitted. The elevation of the climbing area is approximately 5,732 to 7,085 feet. The park sees significant traffic on weekends from May through September.
