Mack Mesa S's Trail is a moderate, 0.62-mile hiking route located in Highline Lake State Park near Fruita on the Western Slope. The trail climbs from approximately 4,512 feet to a peak elevation of around 4,791 feet, offering views of the Bookcliffs and Mack Mesa Lake. It is a non-technical path suitable for year-round use, with conditions generally well-maintained. The trail allows leashed dogs and bicycles, making it a shared-use route. Parking is available at the trailhead. The typical duration for this short out-and-back or spur section is approximately 21 minutes to half an hour. Bald eagles and golden eagles are commonly observed in the area during winter and spring months.
