The Mayflower Gold Mill Tour is a self-guided exploration of a preserved gold processing facility located two miles northeast of Silverton, Colorado. Built in 1929, the Mayflower Mill (also known as the Shenandoah-Dives Mill) is a National Historic Landmark and the last major mill built in the San Juan Mountains. It is notable for being one of the best-preserved intact flotation mills in the United States, with original machinery such as jaw crushers, ball mills, and flotation cells still in place. The tour allows visitors to view the multi-level industrial spaces where ore was crushed, ground, and concentrated. The site is open from late May through mid-October, typically operating daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Admission is charged, and the experience takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes. The terrain involves walking through the mill structure, which includes multiple stairs and is not wheelchair accessible. Parking is available on site.
