Neversink Trail

The Neversink Trail is a short, accessible route along the north bank of the Gunnison River, just west of Gunnison, Colorado. It is best known for its proximity to a Great Blue Heron rookery and its role as a quiet spot for birdwatching, fly fishing, and casual strolling. The trail begins with a well-maintained, level segment suitable for wheelchairs and strollers, but ends at a bridge that lacks a ramp, making the area beyond inaccessible to those devices. The route winds through cottonwoods, willows, and grasses, offering views of the river and potential sightings of beavers, Bald Eagles, and American Dippers. The trail is year-round but can become muddy after heavy precipitation or flooding. Facilities at the trailhead include parking, restrooms, and a picnic area. Pets are allowed on leash.
