The Phil’s World Cash Canyon Trailhead provides access to a non-motorized trail system on a southwest desert mesa near Mancos, Colorado. Located 3 miles east of Cortez on the north side of Highway 160, the trailhead sits on State Land and is accessed via Road 30.1 across from the Montezuma County Fairgrounds. The area features rolling mesa tops and scenic canyons with low to moderate technicality. While the system is heavily used by mountain bikers, it is open to hikers. The Cash Canyon route is classified as moderate difficulty with an elevation of 6,432 feet and typically takes about two hours to complete. Fall hiking from September through November offers comfortable temperatures. Parking is available at the trailhead, but water sources are not confirmed. Pets are permitted.
