About

The Ridgway Area Trails, or RAT, is a network of hand-built singletrack near Ridgway, Colorado, primarily known for mountain biking but also used for hiking and running. The system spans over 40 miles across the RAT Trails and Dennis Weaver Trail systems, featuring rolling terrain with elevations reaching approximately 7,600 feet. While the trails are multi-use and popular with bikers, hikers can access the network year-round, though the system observes a seasonal closure from December 1 to May 1. The moderate difficulty and roughly 2-hour duration for specific loops make it a manageable option for fall exploration. Parking is available at trailheads, and pets are permitted. The trails are maintained by the volunteer RAT chapter of COPMOBA.
