About

The Rim Trail Loop is a scenic doubletrack mountain biking route located on the Uncompahgre Plateau near Montrose, Colorado. The trailhead is accessed via Dave Wood Road; drive approximately 25 miles out, turn right onto Divide Road, and look for a sign reading 'to Rim Trail No. 116' on the left. Parking is available at this sign. To complete the loop, riders can proceed about 2 to 3 miles further up Divide Road to a second marked trailhead on the left, starting the ride in a counter-clockwise direction. The route climbs gradually through aspen, spruce, and pine forests before reaching a scenic overlook with views of the San Juans, specifically Lone Cone and the Wilson Group of 144ers. The terrain includes a few rocky sections but remains rideable for beginners. The trail descends back to Divide Road to complete the circuit. It is generally open from April through October.
