About

Smarmacus Maximus is a 5.12c YDS sport climbing route located in Rifle Mountain Park, specifically within the Arsenal sector. The 80-foot (24 m) climb sits directly left of The Polly-Nator route. Colin Lantz made the first ascent. Climbers should expect powerful moves off underclings to reach the first bulge, followed by a finish on a juggy and pumpy headwall. The route requires approximately 12 quickdraws for protection. Parking is available at the site, and pets are permitted. The area features limestone rock from the Leadville formation, known for complex endurance climbing on large, flat holds, pockets, crimps, and pinches. Rifle Mountain Park is generally crowded on weekends from May through September.
