The Turkey Springs Trailhead serves as a primary access point for the San Juan National Forest near Chimney Rock, Colorado. Located approximately six miles north of US 160 off Piedra Road, the site offers parking and restrooms. The trail system comprises 14 interconnected single-track routes covering more than 30 miles, designed primarily for non-motorized use including hiking and mountain biking. The terrain is mostly flat with some undulations, making it suitable for novice to intermediate hikers. A typical hike takes about two hours and occurs at an elevation around 7,835 feet. The area is open from September through November for fall hiking, though it remains a year-round destination. Pets are permitted on the trails. While popular for ATV and snowmobile access, the non-motorized hiking routes are distinct, though some motorized roads bisect the area. The trailhead can be busy due to its proximity to town and status as a main entry point for motorized vehicles.
