About

The Upper BC&F trail is a 0.7-mile two-track road in Durango, Colorado, serving as an easy alternative to the steeper Upper Twin Buttes trail. The route follows an old railroad grade, offering a relatively flat path with a downhill section on the backside of the buttes before flattening out at its southern end. The trail is managed by the City of Durango and allows hiking, leashed dogs, and mountain biking. Access is seasonal, typically running from April 16 through November 30, though the BLM Tres Rios Field Office may close upper trails to protect wintering wildlife from December 1 to April 30. A dirt parking lot is located near a Speedway gas station on the north side of Highway 160, providing convenient access. The trail connects to other routes in the Twin Buttes system and offers views of the surrounding terrain.
