Whole Uncolada

The Whole Uncolada is a popular mountain biking route near Montrose, Colorado, known for its steep descent off the Uncompahgre Plateau. The trail spans approximately 20 miles with an elevation gain of about 1,053 feet and a significant drop of roughly 4,010 feet, reaching a maximum elevation of 9,285 feet. It is generally rated as intermediate to difficult, featuring fast singletrack, loose rock sections, and a few short climbs. The ride typically takes between two and seven hours depending on rider speed. Early in the season, specifically from June through early July, riders may encounter a Spring Creek water crossing that can be a few feet deep. The route is often done as a shuttle, starting at the Forest Fence Trail trailhead on Divide Road and ending at the Spring Creek Canyon Trailhead in Buzzard Gulch. Wildlife such as black bears and elk are present. The trail is accessible from April through October and allows pets.
