At 305 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 16 miles east of Dove Creek, or 39 miles east of Monticello, moving southwest at 10 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation and outdoor objects is possible. This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of north central Dolores County.
At 208 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 9 miles south of Rico, or 22 miles northwest of Durango, moving south at 5 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation and outdoor objects is possible. This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of northeastern Montezuma County.
The Horse Draw fire was reported June 26th at approximately 1:50PM and is burning north of U.S. Highway 40 near mile post 20 in the Horse Draw and Three Springs areas.
