Executive Summary
At the January 15, 2026 Town Council Meeting, Council authorized $100,000 in funding for a Short-Term
Economic Assistance for Disrupted Years (STEADY) business grant program.

Town staff will provide an update on the grant program, as well as provide current visitation metrics and
preliminary December sales tax data.

This is an embarrassment to all of our community
And while I agree that we need to wait for
facts, it is unfathomable that anyone would place herself/himself in an apparent conflict of
interest such as this . It is just bad judgement, and anyone who shows that poor of judgement
does not belong in a responsible role such as a council member or mayor
Hugely disappointed in her judgement....maybe nothing was intended, but she should have
realized the perception was inappropriate So get the investigation and take it from there

Does the TMVOA have subpoena power? Before we spend a great deal of money on the

Dear Members of the Mountain Village Town Council,
I am writing to respectfully request that the Council follow the well-established
practice used in multiple prior councils when filling vacancies, and appoint a new
board member by selecting the next highest vote getter from the most recent
municipal election.
In the June 24, 2025 municipal election
, Heather Knox finished immediately behind
the elected candidates, receiving 151 votes compared with Alline Arguelles’ 152,
following a recount that confirmed the results. This one-vote difference illustrates
how close the community’s choice was in that race.

This approach — appointing the next highest vote getter — aligns with democratic
values and honors the will of our neighbors who participated in that election. The
procedure would also support a smooth and timely transition.
We also have a clear local example of how the Council has handled vacancies
thoughtfully in recent years. On November 16, 2023
, the Council appointed Huascar
E. Gomez (Rick) to fill a Town Council vacancy created by Patrick Berry’s resignation.
Council acted promptly and effectively, selecting from among interested candidates
and filling the seat before a scheduled meeting later that month.

That appointment reflects Mountain Village’s tradition of responsive and transparent
governance. Continuing to follow the principle of respecting voters’ preferences — in
this case through appointing the next highest vote getter — would build on that
tradition and reinforce public confidence in our local government process.
Thank you for considering this request. I truly appreciate your time, dedication, and
commitment to Mountain Village.

Myself and many others still have major concerns with the majority of town council picking the next
mayor. if the board wants to be truly transparent. Like you stated at the last meeting. You should hold off
till the investigation is complete to pick a new Mayor. We believe this corruption goes way deeper than
just the mayor. This should be put to vote to the citizens of Mountain Village.
My other major concern is why are we paying our town manager more than double what other Colorado
towns are paying their managers?
