Grand Junction, CO – On June 23, 2026, at approximately 9:35 p.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department located a wanted male, known to be armed, in the 1600 block of North Avenue.
As officers approached the suspect in a parking lot, he retreated into an apartment and barricaded himself inside. The suspect, identified as 51-year-old Marc Nash, refused to comply with officers’ commands and remained barricaded, prompting the activation of the Grand Junction Police Department SWAT team.
Nash continued to barricade for several hours as officers worked to gain compliance. At approximately 1:30 a.m., Nash fired multiple rounds through a window towards officers and was taken into custody minutes later. At no time did officers return fire.
One officer sustained minor injuries during the incident and was evaluated on scene by medical personnel.
Nash was arrested and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility where he was booked on his warrant and the following additional charges:
Criminal Attempt to Commit First Degree Murder (three counts)
Assault in the First Degree on a Peace Officer (three counts)
Felony Menacing
Reckless Endangerment (seven counts)
Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender
Resisting Arrest
Obstructing a Peace Officer
Refusal to Leave Premises Upon Request of a Peace Officer
Prohibited Use of a Weapon
The Grand Junction Police Department believes this to be an isolated incident with no ongoing danger to the public. The investigation remains ongoing, and there is no additional information available at this time.
