Durango, CO: **The Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado has opened the La Plata Community Emergency Relief Fund (CERF) to assist residents and communities across La Plata County affected by this week’s flooding. Heavy rainfall has caused flooding and debris flows throughout the county, prompting evacuations, shelter-in-place orders, and the closure of county roads.

Currently, details around the severity of damage and community need are being gathered. In the meantime, individuals wanting to support the community are encouraged to donate to the fund to ensure their support goes where it is needed most. Residents looking for current evacuation and road closure information should visit ReadyLaPlata.org or call 970-385-8700.

Online donations can be made through the Community Foundation’s website, swcommunityfoundation.org. Checks made out to the Community Foundation – Memo: 2026 La Plata Flood – can be mailed to the P.O. Box 1673, Durango, CO 81302.
