SavATree will install seasonal lights in trees along Lincoln Avenue from October 14 to 16, causing temporary parking and travel lane closures.

**Steamboat Springs, Colorado-October 1, 2026-**Fall is arriving in downtown Steamboat Springs, and crews will soon be adding one of the season’s familiar signs: thousands of seasonal lights in the trees along Lincoln Avenue.

SavATree will install the annual seasonal lights October 14-16 along both sides of Lincoln Avenue/US 40 between 3rd and 13th Streets. Mainstreet Steamboat manages the seasonal lights with funding from the city and has contracted with SavATree for the installation.

The work requires temporary parking and travel lane closures. The schedule is designed to limit impacts to traffic while allowing crews to safely complete the installation.

Wednesday, Oct. 14: Crews will focus on smaller trees. No travel lane closures are expected, but parking lanes will be closed from 3rd to 12th Streets on both sides of Lincoln Ave throughout the day.

Thursday, Oct. 15: Crews will work primarily on the Yampa River side, or eastbound side, of Lincoln Avenue/US 40. The eastbound travel and parking lanes will be closed where crews are working beginning at 7am.

Friday, Oct. 16: Work will shift to the Oak Street side, or westbound side, of Lincoln Avenue/US 40. The westbound travel and parking lanes will be closed where crews are working starting at 7am.

Thursday and Friday are scheduled days off for the Steamboat Springs School District, meaning schools will not be in session. The city coordinated the installation for these days to help reduce traffic impacts. Steamboat Springs Transit service will continue as normal during the lane closures.

To further limit congestion, crews will avoid work in the 9th through 13th street blocks during peak traffic periods from 7–9:30 am and 3:30–5:30 pm. Efforts also will be made to minimize impacts between 3rd and 5th Streets during rush hours. Sidewalks may be temporarily restricted near active work areas as crews move through the downtown corridor.

The seasonal lights are installed and replaced annually to help maintain the health of the trees. SavATree also donates one-third of the installation cost as a gift to the community.

Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians traveling through downtown during the installation are encouraged to slow down, follow temporary traffic controls and watch for crews working along the corridor.
