Fire crews arriving at the address observed heavy fire conditions involving the residence, multiple trees, vehicles, and trailers. Firefighters worked in extreme temperatures to contain the blaze and extinguish the numerous items involved.
The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
One cat is known to have died because of the fire. No other injuries have been reported.
The Grand Junction Police Department and Mesa County Sheriff's Office assisted with traffic control and scene safety throughout the incident.
Fire Safety Reminder
The Grand Junction Fire Department urges residents to use extreme caution during the current period of hot, dry, and windy weather. These conditions significantly increase fire danger and can allow even small fires to spread rapidly.
Residents are encouraged to:
Properly extinguish smoking materials and dispose of them safely.
Avoid parking vehicles on dry grass.
Use caution when operating equipment that may produce sparks.
Ensure trailer safety chains are properly secured and do not drag on roadways, where they can create sparks.
