Durango, CO: **Residents and businesses can begin stockpiling debris from recent flooding as part of the cleanup efforts underway, but as active recovery efforts are underway, do not pile debris near curbs or in streets as this may hamper emergency response efforts.
Instead, in preparation for eventual pickup, please separate materials to the extent practical:
Green waste.
Construction/demolition debris.
E-waste (electronic equipment).
The city and La Plata County are finalizing details on debris removal. Do not take debris to the La Plata County Fairgrounds. Hazardous material cannot be picked up. Trash and recycling material can also be transported to the Durango Transfer Station (790 Tech Center Drive, Durango) and the Durango Recycling Center (710 Tech Center Drive, Durango).
Recla Metals, 33399 U.S. Highway 160, will take flooded cars as long as there is a title to the vehicle. Recla will also take flooded appliances, but they must be free of freon.
For the latest updates on recent flooding, please visit the La Plata County website.
