About
Cranor Hill Ski Area is a small, municipal ski hill in Gunnison, Colorado, located off County Road 10. The facility operates on a single Poma platter lift and features four groomed runs across 45 acres. The vertical drop is 305 feet, with an elevation of approximately 7,860 to 8,000 feet. Cranor relies entirely on natural snow coverage and does not use snowmaking equipment. The runs are packed by a 1972 snowcat, and the area includes a small terrain park for jumps. A base lodge offers concessions and ticket sales. The ski hill is owned by the City of Gunnison, which took over operations in 1966 after it was originally opened as a private area in 1962. Operating hours are typically Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm, though the hill may open late, close early, or skip a season entirely depending on whether it accumulates sufficient snow. The difficulty is moderate, making it suitable for beginners and advanced skiers alike.
