Duncan Road leads to the Duncan Trailhead in the Gunnison Gorge Wilderness, near Montrose, Colorado. The access road is 1.8 miles long and transitions from pavement to gravel. It is steep and rugged, often described as a hot hike. Low-clearance vehicles may struggle; a high-clearance vehicle is recommended. The trailhead provides a vault toilet, picnic table, shade structure, and an informational kiosk. A self-serve fee station is available for wilderness access. The trail itself is a steep, rugged route descending to the Gunnison River. It is primarily used for hiking and birding. Dogs are allowed on a leash. The best times to visit are from March or April through October. The trail is generally considered moderately challenging.
