About
The Eagle Valley Trail is a technical mountain biking route located near Delta and Montrose on Colorado's Western Slope. The trail winds through a narrow slot canyon with towering rock walls, offering a desert-style riding experience characterized by constant technical features. Riders encounter rocky ledges, chunky rock gardens, tight turns, and precise line choices throughout the 1 to 2.1-mile length. The route is generally considered difficult or moderately challenging, requiring solid bike handling skills due to the nonstop technical nature of the terrain. Elevation ranges from 4,959 feet to approximately 6,055 feet. The trail is accessible from April through October, though some sources note conditions can be suitable as early as February. Riders should carry plenty of water and avoid riding after excessive rain, as the route needs time to dry out. Parking is available near the trailhead, and pets are allowed. The trail connects with the ECO trails system and passes through Bull Gulch and Castle Peak Wilderness Study areas. While typically quiet, riders may encounter motorized traffic.
