Harvey Gap Reservoir is a 304-acre day-use state park near Rifle, Colorado, centered on a turquoise lake known for fishing. The reservoir supports populations of rainbow trout, brown trout, smallmouth bass, channel catfish, northern pike, perch, and crappie. Anglers typically target these species using spinners or baitfish imitation lures. The site is accessible via Harvey Gap Road off Highway 325, with parking available for vehicles. Amenities include 30 shaded picnic sites with grills, a boat ramp on the east side, and a swim beach at the south entrance. Boating is permitted with motors limited to 20 horsepower. The park operates year-round, with peak fishing activity occurring in the summer and early fall. While the park itself is day-use only, overnight camping is available at nearby Rifle Gap and Rifle Falls state parks. Note that while some sources list the area as pet-friendly generally, specific park regulations state pets are not permitted within Harvey Gap State Park.
