Mr. Mesa is a 200-foot ice climb located on the west side of Grand Mesa, near Whitewater Creek, approximately 2 miles from Lands End. The route consists of two pitches: the first 80 feet are steep (90-95 degrees) leading to a good belay ledge, followed by 120 feet of sustained vertical ice with slopey ledges and a cruxy exit. Access requires a 3-mile round-trip hike or ski from Lands End when roads are open, or a 22-mile round-trip ski from CO Highway 65 and Lands End road after closure. Parking is available near the climbing area, and pets are allowed. The climb is rated moderate difficulty. Winter conditions require additional precautions and equipment, including a 200-foot rope for rappelling and a second rope for leading, along with screws and optional rock protection for the edge.
