The Perimeter Trail is a 4.85 to 5.6-mile loop encircling Ouray, Colorado, situated on the Western Slope. Starting from a parking lot across from the Ouray Visitor Center on US 550, the route circumnavigates the town with an elevation gain of approximately 1,150 to 2,582 feet and a highest point near 8,500 feet. The trail typically takes between three and five hours to complete. It is rated as difficult or moderate, featuring rugged, rocky terrain that can be slippery and icy during winter months. Key features include views of the Uncompahgre Gorge, Hayden Mountain, and Cascade Falls, as well as passing through forested hillsides, cliffs, and canyons.
