About

Sunset Rocks is a technical mountain biking route in Peach Valley near Montrose and Olathe, Colorado, within the Gunnison Gorge National Recreation Area. The terrain features loose rock, slickrock, and flowy descents through shrubs and pinion trees. Riders can access the trail from the Sunset Rocks trailhead, Eagle Valley trailhead, Peach Valley staging area, or Chukar Road. The trail is shared with motorbikes and joggers, though traffic is light. It is rideable most of the year but can be very hot in summer. Avoid riding in rain due to sticky Adobe Mud. The route offers options for different skill levels; intermediate riders often use the out-and-back from Sunset Rocks TH, while experts may add the steep, technical Eagle Valley Trail. Parking is available at the trailheads.
