Third Flats Trailhead

Third Flats Trailhead is a moderate hiking spot on the Colorado Plateau near Grand Junction, located at an elevation of 5,883 feet. The trail offers a mix of flat and inclined sections through high desert terrain, providing views of the Uncompahgre Plateau and Gunnison River. It is accessible year-round, with fall hiking typically occurring from September through November when foliage changes color. The route is approximately 4 to 5 miles long, with a typical duration of about two hours. Hikers will find parking and restrooms available at the trailhead, though no water source is present on site. The trail surface consists of dirt and gravel, suitable for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. It is pet-friendly and managed by the BLM Grand Junction Field Office.
