Delta stands at the confluence of the Gunnison and Uncompahgre rivers, in the middle of the Western Slope's farm country. About 9,000 people live here. It is a working agricultural town that happens to have serious outdoor recreation at its edges, and it does not dress either part up for visitors.

The Delta County Fairgrounds run events all year, including rodeos, agricultural shows, and cultural festivals.
The Gunnison River is right there for fishing, kayaking, and river recreation, and the Uncompahgre National Forest handles hiking, camping, and wildlife viewing. Delta sits at the base of the Grand Mesa, so alpine lakes and high country are a drive up the hill. The desert ground around town makes for its own kind of hiking and photography.
The historic downtown district has shops and restaurants in older buildings that carry the area's heritage, and the Delta County Airport nearby makes the region easy to reach.
