Location: 7.5 miles northwest of Yampa, Colorado in Rio Blanco County near the Routt County line
The fire has spread into Routt County and onto private land
Priorities: Public and firefighter safety remain the highest priority
Persistent pockets of heat remain throughout the fire's footprint
Containment is increasing thanks to the hard work of firefighters cold trailing, mopping up and strengthening lines around the fire’s perimeter.

- The Rocky Mountain Incident Management Type 3 Team took command of the fire on Thursday at 10 p.m.
- Public and Firefighter safety are the highest priorities
- The Crosho Fire was reported on Aug. 11, 2025
- Current fire size is 2,200 acres
- 7.5 miles northwest of Yampa, Colorado
- Located in Rio Blanco County, near the Routt County line in Colorado
- The fire remains active and has burned into Routt County and onto private land
- Growth continues on all sides of the fire
- Over 200 resources are assigned to the fire
Operations:
- Full suppression tactics will continue to be used, with an emphasis on firefighter safety
- Aerial suppression, along with direct line construction by dozers and hand crews, continues on all sides of the fire
- Structure protection efforts continue

Evacuation Notice sent 9:55 am: This is a pre-evacuation notice. Residents should prepare to evacuate the following area due to the crosho fire in Rio Blanco county near the Routt county line. Residents in the area bordered by county road 19 to the north, highway 131 to the east, county road 13 to the south and the crosho lake area to the west are included. updates will be sent as needed.
