Durango, CO: **Four Days of the Fourth returns for the fourth year (say that 10 times fast) as part of the city’s July 4 celebrations, which will also include recognition of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the 150th anniversary of Colorado statehood.

More than 30 events are scheduled throughout the celebration that begins at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, and concludes at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, including:

  • “Parade-to-Party Funnel.” Spectators are invited to enjoy the We the People! Parade at 4:30 p.m. on July 4, from College Drive to 12th Street, then follow the festivities directly to Buckley Park for the street dance and dinner from 5 to 10 p.m. Admission is free. Attendees may bring folding chairs and backpacks; tents and coolers are not permitted. Guests are welcome to purchase food onsite or bring their own meals, but outside alcohol is prohibited.

  • **New Liberty Days Arts & Crafts Fair. **Sunday, July 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Buckley Park. The event will showcase 30 local and regional artists and live entertainment from Leah Orlikowsky and Stillwater’s Throwback Swing. In recognition of the America 250 Colorado 150 commemoration, the Victorian Ladies will host croquet matches in period costume throughout the event.

  • **Breakfast, Trivia, and a Little Friendly Competition. **Patrons of local businesses can test their U.S. history and Americana knowledge – without phone assistance – for the chance to win an American flag and perhaps even a complimentary cup of coffee. Find unique challenges, prizes, and hours of operation at The DoubleTree by Hilton Durango, El Moro Spirits & Tavern, El Rancho Tavern, Hermosa Café, and the VFW Post 4031.

  • **Love ’n Juice at the Liberty Days Arts & Crafts Fair. **Enjoy a fun blend of local dining, community spirit, and patriotic trivia.

The Four Days of the Fourth celebration was launched in 2023 to extend the community's Independence Day festivities, encourage residents to stay in town, and provide more opportunities for friends and family to gather. It is the largest event produced by the City of Durango Community Events Division.

“When we created Four Days of the Fourth, our goal was to build traditions for locals and give them a great reason to stay in town,” said Eric Bulrice, the city’s community events supervisor. “Over the years, we’ve added events and expanded the street dance to feature regional and national acts. What we see now are friends and families – decked out in red, white, and blue – creating memories together. That’s what a celebration is all about.”

The City of Durango partners with the Durango Chamber of Commerce, Durango Business Improvement District, Durango Farmer’s Market, Local First, Visit Durango, and the La Plata County Fairgrounds & Event Center to present Four Days of the Fourth.
