Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is a tourist attraction located in Montrose, CO.
Gritstone Arete is a 5.11a YDS sport, 40 ft (12 m) located in Montrose > Dry Creek Crag > Right Side. First ascent by unknown. This has balancy climbing on a slightly less-than-vertical face. Protection: It is just left of the large chimney at the left end of the "brown wall".
The Gunnison River through the Black Canyon is designated as Gold Medal Waters, offering challenging but rewarding fly fishing for large brown and rainbow trout. The dramatic canyon setting provides a spectacular backdrop for fishing, with access points below the Crystal Dam and at the Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area. The clear, cold water and abundant insect life support a healthy trout population, with fish regularly exceeding 16 inches.
Simple Physics is a 5.10d YDS sport, 45 ft (14 m) located in Montrose > Dry Creek Crag > Right Side. First ascent by unknown. This is the "other" arete route in this area. Protection: It is on the far right side of the "brown wall".
Skittles to the Wall is a 5.11- YDS sport, 40 ft (12 m) located in Montrose > Dry Creek Crag > Right Side. First ascent by Logan Righter. This is a great bouldery climb with a hand-to-foot match crux that requires you getting your hips up against the wall. Protection: It is 20 feet to the left of Simple Physics. Ascend a blank looking slab with 4 hard-to-spot glue-in bolts. This is the second bolted line to the left of the prominent corner.
(Not) Chopped is a 5.9+ YDS sport, 50 ft (15 m) located in Montrose > Dry Creek Crag > Left Side. First ascent by unknown. "Chopped" as per the guidebook seems to have gotten rebolted. Climb through 3 spaced out bolts on a wall that kicks back near the top. The rock quality degrades a bit near the top, but it is protected here. This has good patina climbing and a 2 bolt anchor up top. Protection: It is the last route on the face before the big roof area far left.

All Casts, Show 1 Wednesday, Show 3 Friday, Show 5 Saturday. The genre of contemporary dance includes a wide variety of dance forms and techniques. Contemporary dance essentially borrows from well-known genres such as ballet, modern, jazz, and international forms of dance. Contemporary dance training requires strong technical skills in addition to an open and creative mind, as a lot of contemporary choreography is developed through improvisation. Dancers must be well conditioned and trained in order to prevent injury, as a lot of contemporary movement is about speed, control, strength, change of direction, and inversion. Lyrical dance is primarily recognized as a dance genre that utilizes both ballet and jazz techniques to perform a more emotive and expressive piece of work often relating to the “lyrics” of the song the dancers are performing to and/or a theme the dance has been set to portray. In a lyrical dance class, students will learn to emote a variety of emotions such as sadness/hurt, anger, joy, love etc. through their body language and facial expressions. Like contemporary dance, lyrical is a relatively new genre of dance that has borrowed from a variety of other dance styles and genres. All Level 4/5/6 classes require prior approval. If we notice that your dancer is enrolled in a class they have not been approved for, we will reach out.
